After holding the Public Arts Funding Teams call last week (thanks to those that attended), we have propped up a board against the Oak tree at the front of the development to let those not on FB or email that there is some arts funding that we can take advantage of (see photos).
We had a good discussion on the call and we are appreciative of the time that Abi and Jon gave us to talk through how the arts funding will be administered.
The small number of residents that attended the call with the council have been co-opted on to a selection committee and we agreed on a rough timeline, as noted below:
- We are open to suggestions until Sun 3rd July for how we might spend this Arts funding. You can post your suggestions here, send your suggestions to the the normal email address.
- The selection committee will meet on Wed 13th July to review those suggestions and to select a small number to review with the council’s arts representatives.
- On Thu 21st July, we will be holding a site walk to review these ideas with our council reps. The thinking is that we can also think about where on the development these ideas might fit in.
- Thereafter, our council reps will work up some briefs for professional artists. This will lead to some proposals and costings.
- At a later point, once we know what we want to do, we will need to apply for the funding from the council! At the moment, the £47k has been reserved for the use on The Dovecote. Any money left over may end up being donated to wider village arts funding.
