Update on Latest FirstPort Service Charges

Unfortunately, we received an email from FirstPort this morning to advise of the following – this was in response to our challenge of their charges:

  • Our FirstPort account manager spoke with their accounts team at length and after looking at this in more details they realised that the charges were run incorrectly on an even split when they should have been based on tenancy commencement dates.
  • The team have now worked out the correct amounts based on tenancy commencement dates as opposed to an even split, and they are currently working out the differences and raising the correct charges (which may involve some credits).
  • These will be sent ASAP. The team apologises for the error and ensures me this will be rectified this week.

So, we think that means we can expect to receive further emails/letters with an updated balance – every resident’s balance will be different. Sounds like some will gain from this and we guess some of us may lose out in these new charges. You would have thought considering this is their core business, that they could work out the charges correctly the first time!
