Just had a really good call with the Soha Finance Manager, following on from an initial call last week. They were in a less informed position than we were, in that they hadn’t even been sent the covering letter and accounts dated 30 June. So they didn’t know what the FirstPort charges related to. We have sent on copies of the communications that we have received and they are aware of the position now.
As we suspected, Soha need to pay their invoices, in the same way that it makes sense for residents to pay their invoices if they have a positive balance (i.e. are deemed to be “in debt”). For the small size of the invoice, it doesn’t seem worth the hassle to delay paying and risk aggressive recovery action being initiated.
Soha are happy to support us in challenging the FirstPort charges.
Soha will question what the FirstPort charges relate to and check whether they requested a welcome pack and indeed whether any of their residents received a welcome pack from FirstPort.
Did any of us receive a welcome pack from FirstPort? We certainly can’t remember receiving anything.
Did we request a welcome pack from FirstPort, or did Bloor tell us that FirstPort would provide a welcome pack? We don’t believe we/they did.
We have agreed to speak again next week to see what sort of response each of us has received from FirstPort.
