We had a call from the Bloor Adoption Manager yesterday afternoon. Key points noted:
- The bulk of the surfacing work will be completed this week. We could probably work that out for ourselves to be honest, but as others have already noted, there are only two guys left on site working on the block paving on the main intersection. They seem to be doing a pretty good job, but no doubt there will be a fair number of part-brick gaps that will need finishing off next week.

- The Bloor Adoption Manager highlighted that the blocked gullies will be cleared next week after the block paving work is completed. He will be hiring a machine for the day to work on this across the entire development. Hopefully that will address the concerns raised by some residents about all of the sand that has been dropped into the drains. Don’t ask us why the workmen didn’t protect the drains before dumping the sand. If only we all had a bit of common sense!
- He also noted he was aware that vehicles had been using the path connecting Plough Lane to the High Street. We assume residents have reported this to Bloor. Bloor have accepted this needs to be sorted and although not on the approved plans, they have agreed to fund the installation of bollards and OCC has agreed to adopt these bollards. Not sure of the timing for this work. In the meantime, he indicated that Bloor may put an obstacle in the way to avoid vehicles using this path in the short term.
- We talked about the street light work that’s currently going on. He confirmed that some of the new street lights have power and some do not. Some of these new street lights have an old style of lantern installed (we have seen posts from residents complaining about the brightness of these lanterns compared to the newer LED lanterns). This is because the supplier has run out of stock of the new lanterns. The supplier has ordered additional stock (from Canada). The Bloor Adoption Manager has asked the supplier to switch lanterns around amongst these new street lights so that any that already have power should be fitted with LED lanterns and old-style lanterns be fitted to the other (currently) non-powered street lights. Personally, we can’t see the point in installing any of these older style lanterns – easier leaving them off completely.
- We also talked about the timing of the handover from Bloor to the MC. We will issue a separate update about this in a few mins.
Hope that all makes sense. Feel free to ask any questions.
