Points raised in relation to the northern end of the east side of the development:
- We headed eastwards past plots 10 and 11 (1 and 3 Furlongs) onto the public open space behind Lamas Land and the SUD.
- The plan indicates there should be hedge planting all along the fence under some trees. We concluded that a hedge was not necessary here. There is also some existing foliage attached to the fence along this stretch.
- Proposal: No hedge planting along this fence. The foliage attached to the fence will be removed.
- We then walked around the SUD heading along the narrow grass path between the fence and the SUD.
- Again, the plan indicates there should be hedge planting all along the fence. This may not be appropriate due to the lack of space. Planting a hedge in this area would close off the ability to walk around the SUD.
- Proposal: No hedge planting along this fence.
- As we continued to walk around, we reached a boundary with a house with a low, open wooden fence which is exposed. The walkable area here is wide enough for a hedge.
- Proposal: Plant hedging along this fence alongside the house boundary.
- Action: NB to check with house owner as to whether they have any objections.
- We then turned the corner to start walking down the east boundary of the development.
- Again, the plan indicates there should be hedge planting all along the east boundary. This is definitely needed since this area is quite exposed to the adjacent land.
- Key requirement is for a substantial hedge as per planning agreement to protect Lamas Land residents from the Halls Close development.
- Proposal: Plant hedging along this boundary from the top to the mid-point adjacent to the bridge on the path. This needs to take into account the requirement for a substantial hedge to be planted along the Eastern boundary.
- We walked into the centre of the development in between plot 14 (28 Lamas Land) and the wild trees/foliage.
- We noted that the biodiversity enhancements had not been addressed.
- Action: AB to look at the biodiversity enhancements and advise plan to address.
- A concern had been raised by a resident about the state of a dead willow tree in this area, but this looked far enough away from houses not likely to cause any issues.
- We talked about the remaining large tree logs left after a tree was blown down a year or two ago. Bloor decided to leave these on the basis that this helped develop this wild area. We didn’t see any reason to object to this.
- We discussed the land subsidence and the impact this has had on the fencing alongside plot 32 (Furlongs).
- Proposal: No specific landscaping required in this area other than in respect to any remedial actions required in support of the fencing issue. The remaining large tree logs will be left where they are.
- Action: AB will check the position with Customer Care about the fencing issue.
