Attendees:
- Bloor Homes Adoption Manager (AB)
- VWHDC Rep (DC)
- Landscaping Lead (East Midlands Landscaping) (EML)
- Us (Residents’ Association) (NB)
General points:
- We walked the development with a copy of the Master Landscaping plan. Started at the entrance and walked around the east side, south side and up the west side. We had to jump out to attend a couple of meetings, but didn’t miss too much.
- Proposal: All dead trees are being replaced. EML noted trees to be replaced as we walked around.
- Proposal: Most natural hedgerows will be filled out (called gapping). EML noted the site of these as we walked around.
- We confirmed that trash bins and dog bins have been installed in the places indicated on the plan.
- We noted that the low wooden rails around SUDs are broken in a number of places.
- Action: AB will organise for all of the low wooden rails to be checked and repaired where necessary.
- Paths – we debated about whether the paths should be compacted (as they are now) or looser (like on the Cala homes development). The conclusion was that they are graded correctly – there is no detailed specification to check this against, other than a general description included on the plan of what materials should be used. Key is whether they drain or not.
- Unless we engage a professional for an independent assessment, I’m not sure there’s a lot else we can do on this one.
- Proposal: Other than specifics noted later on, no general work is required on the paths.
- SUDs – agreed these need to be cut twice every year. Gradients are ok.
- Proposal: A 500mm border to be mown around the inside of the rails to provide a manicured look. Rest to be left as is. Entrance to drain heads need to be kept clear.
