We had a really positive and constructive meeting with Bloor and VWHDC on Fri afternoon. The primary focus was on the high-level approach to handover, rather than any specific detail. However, we did catch up on the opening of the play areas(s). Key points:

  1. We agreed the timetable for inspections, maintenance and handover as defined by the legal agreement. That just confirmed what we already knew.
  2. We agreed the target for the first inspection of the Public Open Space (POS) would be early Sep 2021.
  3. We agreed the first “virtual” inspection of the play area(s) would be based on Bloor sending a set of documents through to VWHDC for review. There will be no physical inspection as such (primarily because VWHDC has no expertise in this respect).
  4. That confirms that the earliest any handover can take place to the MC will be Sep 2022.
  5. We talked about options for handover. I’ll post separately on this topic since there’s a fair bit to talk about for each option.

We agreed the principle of opening up the play area(s) in the next few weeks (as previously indicated). Bloor wants to hand over responsibility for the play area(s) to FirstPort at that time. We emphasized that there is no need for FirstPort to be involved in this and there was concern this could lead to additional costs being incurred by residents. Some further work still to do on who’s taking on responsibility, but this won’t derail opening up the play area(s) soon.
