Quick update on Engagement with Bloor: things have gone quiet, and we have been getting limited response from Bloor recently. We have sent over a list of some of the outstanding items to try to stimulate a response.

This list isn’t comprehensive since our full list is pages and pages long. Our aim here is to encourage him to engage rather than depress him about how many issues are outstanding!

  1. Street Lighting – numerous queries raised in relation to lights which are missing and/or not yet activated.
  2. Service Strip on Furrows End – ties in with street lighting issue.
  3. Paths – poor quality, lack of drainage.
  4. Play Area – why is this not open? Lack of activity in completing the play areas. These areas are now accessible as a result of contractors leaving them unlocked. This is highly frustrating for families with kids. Residents are considering removing the metal fencing due to Bloor’s inability to complete this work. Reminder that Bloor is responsible for any accidents on site.
  5. Ransom Strips – no details as yet provided by Bloor as to who owns these ransom strips.
  6. The Swamp (East side opposite Furrows End) – drainage is a big issue due to the way Bloor has designed this area. This continues to be a problem and we have seen no evidence of any plan to sort this out once and for all.
  7. Litter Bins and Dog Waste Bins – no evidence these have been installed.
  8. Path on Lammas Land – left compacted and uneven after installation of cable conduit ready for illuminated posts to be installed. Remediation has been attempted, but this now looks a real mess. This path needs to be dug up, better drainage installed and then re-laid according to the formal specification.
  9. POS Maintenance Schedule.
  10. Date for the First Inspection of POS with VWHDC.
  11. Blocked Drains – suggestion that a system flush out would be organised and individual drains would be cleared. No evidence of that work seen as yet.
  12. Trees close to houses – are they safe?
  13. Remaining landscaping work – East Midland Landscaping to undertake remaining work.
  14. ROSPA report for the play area – Bloor to provide a copy of both inspections.
  15. Title Deed for the public open space – Bloor has indicated they will provide a copy of this. This has yet to be provided.
  16. Clarification over the contractual relationship between Bloor and Chamonix. No details provided as yet. This directly affects the ability of Bloor to provide Chamonix with residents’ personal data and maintain their responsibilities as Data Controller under the Data Protection Act 2018.

There’s more supporting detail in the email, which we can’t easily replicate here.

The Bloor Adoption Manager is off until Mon, so not expecting any sort of response until late next week.

Overall, it doesn’t feel like we are that much closer to holding an inspection of the Public Open Space with VWHDC. So, the residents won’t be taking over responsibility for at least 12 months +, so I’d be thinking it’s going to be late 2022 now.
