For awareness, we have exchanged emails with the new Property Manager at FirstPort. They have been on site; we can only assume at the invitation of Bloor Homes. We have recommended they spend no more time working on the development on the basis that it will simply lead to expenses that FirstPort will pass on to residents, and in due course, residents will reclaim from Bloor Homes. We also explained why the residents are unhappy with any Managing Agent attempting to pass on charges to residents when they hold no responsibility for the development.
As a follow on, we plan to send the Deputy MD of Bloor Homes an email clarifying the RA’s position in respect to FirstPort. That we have no intention of using them post handover and that any discussion about the handover process should be addressed to VWHDC and the RA in the first instance.
We have also emphasised that any discussion about the post-handover arrangements (I.e. which managing agent we decide to use), should be addressed to the RA in the first instance.
Our aim here is two-fold:
- Firstly, to minimise any expenses being incurred when there is no benefit. In fact, it just causes hassle all around, since residents have to reclaim expenses incurred by FirstPort from Bloor Homes.
- It’s up to the residents to decide how we manage the MC after handover. This shouldn’t be forced upon us by Bloor Homes.
We have also made it clear to Bloor Homes that residents will hold Bloor Homes accountable for any expenses incurred by FirstPort prior to handover and as a result of any transition from FirstPort to our desired managing agent.

Thanks for commenting! We have First Port waiting in the wings to take on the Managing Agent role. We have spoken with a number of different people in First Port, but since we are yet to conclude hand over, things are yet to be finalised.
