As part of our journey in taking on responsibility for running the Management Company (MC), residents need to elect Resident Directors (RDs) to act on their behalf.

This post introduces you to our RD nominees, so you can feel confident about supporting the appointment of this group of individuals.

We believe it’s really important that all residents get comfortable with our RD nominees, since they are likely to be making decisions on your behalf in the future running of the MC.

We have summarised the Key Points for those who just want the headlines and for those that would like to read a little more, head to our In-Depth Analysis.

Key Points

  • RDs will sit on the MC board and will represent all residents in the running of the MC.
  • You can find out more about the MC and what is involved in being a Resident Director on our Management Company page.
  • We have four RD nominees representing privately-owned and shared-ownership properties.
  • We have up to two RD nominees representing Soha fully-owned properties. Details are yet to be provided.
  • We also have one Parish Council representative that has the right to a seat on the board.
  • We need you to vote in support of this proposed group of RDs ahead of the EGM.
  • You can vote in support (or not) of this group of RD nominees on our voting page. This vote will be open from Thu 06/06/2024 until Fri 14/06/2024.

In-Depth Analysis

Background

We have talked a lot about taking control of the MC and the need for an EGM to appoint RDs.

We have also explained our desire to avoid incurring any cost from FirstPort and gaining control of the MC to appoint a new Managing Agent (MA) of our own choosing.

All of this means we need to (unofficially) appoint RDs ahead of the EGM, so that when it comes to the EGM we know that we have the necessary support to make key decisions.

You can find out more about the MC and what is involved in being a Resident Director on our Management Company page.

RD Nominations

TDRA has invited residents to nominate themselves as prospective RD over the past few weeks. This culminated in a final call via our Newsletter that dropped through letterboxes on Mon 27/05/2024.

We received a good number of nominations and that’s one reason why we have ended up with six in total.

Finding a Balance

It was important that privately-owned properties and Soha fully-owned properties were equally represented on the board. With the proposed RDs, we will have:

  • Up to two Soha RDs representing 40 fully-owned Soha properties (20 properties per RD), although details are yet to be provided.
  • Four independent RDs representing the other 102 privately-owned properties (25.5 properties per RD).

Our Resident Director Nominees

We have included a list of the independent RD nominees below. These are the individuals that residents will be asked to vote in support of. This vote will be a vote for the collection of RDs, NOT for individual RDs.

The Soha representatives will be confirmed at a later point.
